If you are currently a Member:
Most likely, your first stop will be to get promoted to Freshmen Artist, though sometimes people get promoted to Sophomore, and very rarely, straight to Junior. To first get a promotion on this board, you need to fill the following criteria:» Pass the six basic tutorials posted here
» Once you've passed (an admin will edit your post with pass or fail) you must post here and fill out the form. The form will require you to:
» Post your six passed tutorials
» enter at least three challenges and post your entries
» have a minimum post count of 30
» have a link to your gallery
Your gallery should have a good balanced mixture of icons, signatures, banners and blends and whatever else you might like to make.
To become a Sophomore, Junior or Senior Graphics Artist:» post in this forum and fill out the offered form
» enter at least three current challenges
» fill at least one current request
» update your gallery with your most recent work
» be deemed Sophomore/Junior/Senior "material" by an admin, i.e. you could have filled all the criteria, but might not have the necessary skills yet.
A little extra information on becoming a Senior Graphics Artist:» Impress me. Senior spots are very limited and will only be given out to people who literally make my jaw scrape the ground. Do not be disheartened if you are not made a Senior, I'm just very hard to please. Artistically speaking, Senior Artists are the same level as Graphic Staff - it's as high as you can go without getting moderating powers. It's the top of the food chain!
To become Graphics Staff:Staff are chosen by me. Right, seems familiar? It's not the fairest system, but there it is. There is a limited number of Staff positions, but when an artist catches my eye or shows very outstanding work-- then you will likely find yourself a blue name.
To become a Moderator:Chosen by me, voila.
For Staff & Moderator positions, you should be friendly, outgoing, and generally helpful around the board. If you get noticed, you'll have a good chance of getting a staff position. At the moment though, we have all the staff and moderators that we possibly need. Any new openings will be advertised.
In addition to the above criteria, you must have a warn count of 0% and good behaviour to get promoted here. Obviously, we aren't going to promote trouble makers as we don't reward bad behaviour. That's fair enough, right?
If you fall under the criteria, that's half the battle. However, if you do not have the necessary talent for the level you wish to be, we will not promote you. We can only tell you what we need, but you must practice your graphics in order to get a good level of skill and comfort with your style before you will be promoted.
Lastly, this is not the end of the world. Promotions do not matter too much! This is only a graphics board, so do not get worked up and upset if you do not get promoted, and do not PM me complaining about how unfair I am and that I'm clearly blind/stupid/horrible. I've heard it all before and it's not going to make me change my mind about you.
At the end of the day, all you can do to get promoted is keep practising. We can only teach so much, the rest is up to you. You can do it! :3
